Portland, Oregon’s RiverCity Bluegrass Festival Jan 4, 5 & 6 2008 has been generating a lot of interest from Canadian Fans looking for a great Bluegrass start to the New Year. Please check out the festival website at: www.rivercitybluegrass.com/ and be sure to visit the Jam Train option.
Festival organizers have arranged for an economical package that includes a full weekend festival pass, three nights accommodation at the Inn at the Convention Center Hotel and a return train trip from Bellingham to Portland for $350.00 per person. The train car (max 36 people) is reserved for festival attendees only and will be a great jam party to and from the festival.
Call the Festival Office at 503-282-0877 - Mon-Fri 9am-4:30 pm for reservations.
Because the Amtrak train from Bellingham departs Friday, Jan 4 at 8:35 AM I have set up a group rate at the Fairhaven Village Inn www.fairhavenvillageinn.com/ for accommodation Thursday, January 3. This appears to be a nice hotel very close to the Bellingham Amtrak station.
Our group rates are as follows: Bayside Room - $149 US (regular rate$189) or Parkside Room - $129 US (regular rate $159).
The rates include continental breakfast and free parking. The hotel has agreed to give us access to their meeting room for jamming at no additional charge. They will allow us to leave our cars in their parking lot for the weekend. Most travelers will probably choose to pick up their cars Monday night) although some may choose to stay in Bellingham that evening (the Portland train is scheduled to arrive at the Bellingham station at 9:05 PM.)
The hotel has only 22 rooms and reservations will be on a first come - first served basis. Guests may make reservations by calling the Fairhaven Village Inn directly at 360-733-1311 & identifying themselves as being part of the RiverCity Bluegrass Train Group OR by going to www.fairhavenvillageinn.com & using the access code: BLUEGRASS. Guests without the access code will not be permitted to reserve rooms online as the entire Inn has been blocked for our group.
I will be helping to coordinate the group taking the train from Bellingham. I’ll try to maintain a data base/ emailing list of interested Bluegrass fans. Please email me any questions or to let me know that you have confirmed the package and the hotel room.
