Two handsome John's showed up in the mail today. Reischman and Miller, that is. Playing a benefit for Butch Baldassari at Dusty Strings Music in Seattle, with a lot of friends and great pickers. Sat Dec 1, 7:30. Yes, it was the Quarter Note, Dusty Strings' quarterly (get it?) newspaper. Two John's on the cover. www.dustystrings.com
Check out the lineup appearing with, before and after John and John for the benefit. Baldassari, the planet's other best mandolinist, is going through some tough medical times that, unfortunately, also mean tough $$ times. Don't miss the show for a great cause.
Sat Dec 8, also at Dusty Strings, a day-long series of free concerts. Dusty Davy, Rick Fogel, Piper's Creek, Mad Fiddlu (without them double dots over the "a" it's not the same), Down the Road, Pete Martin and lots more. From Finnish to Appalachian, acoustic rock to western swing, from a to z (zee once you slip below the 49th) in acoustic music.
And workshops at Dusty! Banjo (Bill Evans!), Dobro (Orville Johnson!), Fiddle (Megan Lynch! and more), Flute, Guitar (many styles), Dulcimer (get hammered!), Harmonica, Harp, Musical Health, Mandolin and more. Check the website for their next series of workshops and shows running from early December to late January.
